For something a little bit different, I wanted to comment on an amazing movie I watched the other day, "The Real Dirt on Farmer John". This is the story about John Peterson's journey from growing up on the farm, to taking on the responsibilities when his father dies to losing most of the land. This is not only a story about one man finding his path and passion, but also a extraordinary chronicle of the loss of the American farms. Why should you watch it? Because after decades of heartache and perseverance, John created the largest most successful CSA in America. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. (More about that great idea in future post, I promise.)
My favorite moment....and you have to watch the film to get the total effect...was when the city folks asked him to consider the CSA and he thought they were a bunch of freaks.
